REVIEW – Down Shift by K. Bromberg
I have been a huge fan of the Driven Series by K. Bromberg. I was very excited to see that Zander would be getting his own book. The fact that is it a standalone makes this even better.
This story will have you engaged from the very first chapter. Immediately we see some drama filled, angst as Zander’s life has spiralled out of control. He needs to take some time to collect himself, get his head on straight.
We then met Getty (Gertrude) who has also escaped her life. The two want to be alone but are thrust together and their stubbornness and refusal to back down from one another leads to some comical moments in this book. I loved seeing them get irritated with one another while trying to ignore the attraction they had.
I absolutely loved that as the story continued we saw how they became what each other needed to get through their struggles. A love story that was completely enthralling. Zander was such a moody bastard that you wanted to slap him at times. However when he showed his caring side you SWOONED !!!!
Getty was someone that you instantly want to support once you learned of her past and what she went through. I couldn’t help but silently cheer each time she gathered more strength and became more confident about herself.
Of course a story wouldn’t be complete with an OH NO NO NO NO !!!!! moment that potentially threatens to tear these two apart. I felt my heart drop out of my chest and was anxious to read the outcome.
Don’t worry there is an HEA 🙂
K. Bromberg not only brings you some Romance, some drama, and some sizzling moments she also brings you a story that says even when you feel like you are at your lowest point there is still light at the end of the tunnel and you can not only overcome but also come out better then you imagined.
The New York Times bestselling Driven series continues with a standalone story about finding love where you least expect it…
Behind the wheel, racing champion Zander Donavan is at the top of his game. But after too much excess in his personal life, he’s forced to step away. He needs to accomplish something all on his own—outside of his famous father’s shadow.
Getty Caster is running away from the abuse that clouds her past. She thinks she’s found the perfect escape—until she discovers a stranger in the beachside cottage she’d been promised. He’s undeniably sexy, but she’s there to heal. Alone.
Before long though, fighting with each other turns into fighting their attraction. And giving into desire sets off a chain reaction that has their pasts colliding. With an unexpected love on the line, can they overcome the fallout to build a future?
