REVIEW – HE KISSED ME FIRST by SARA NEY
This story had some sweet moments and some funny banter between the two main characters.
This is the second book in this series and while I really liked the first book this was just fell a little short for me.
Matthew and CeCe’s very first encounter was comical and witty and did have me laughing out loud.
They bickered and each gave as good as they got. What started out as an almost “hate” on for each other eventually turns into more, but there are some miscommunication or lack of communication along with a lot of stubbornness that prevent these two from actually getting together.
There are some very cute moments between to two as they get to know one another but they still managed to poke and jab at each other in a cute way.
Where this book fell short for me was mostly with both characters. Matthew annoyed me most of the time and I couldn’t understand his immaturity. For an NHL hockey player I found at times his behaviour to be more so of someone in high school. Cece was very much the same, at times again acting like she was in high school and not someone who was in her early twenties.
I think had the characters had a bit more maturity to them I would have rated this book higher. I enjoyed the storyline, the chase, the banter for the most part. It was just at times their behaviour that irked me.
“Trust me – If there’s one thing I’m not attracted to, it’s an arrogant, selfish and foul-mouth hockey player. I know what I want, and Matthew Wakefield isn’t it.” – Cecelia Carter
From the first moment they laid eyes on each other, all Cecelia Carter and Matthew Wakefield do is bicker. Fight. Even though he is her roommates brother, Cece just can’t stand the sight of him, and Matthew – well. He could never resist a challenge…
That can’t be a good combination, can it?
But sometimes, love happens when you least expect it.
This book is intended for those 17 and older – If you’re offended by “F” bombs, sarcasm, sexual situations and Alpha Male jackasses – this book is not for you…
