Win the game. Lose your heart.

Everyone knows who I am and that I could have any female fan I want. That’s supposed to be the “perk” of playing left field for the Boston Renegades. But I don’t want just any woman; I want her.

She should be just another face in the crowd, but I can’t stop thinking about the one night we spent together-and her look of regret the morning after.

Because Saylor Blackwell is the kind of woman who haunts a man. Smart, sexy as hell, and one of the best managers in the business. She’s every ballplayer’s dream woman. And I’d do anything to make things right with her.

I’m done sitting on the bench when it comes to Saylor Blackwell. Time to swing for the fences.

I couldn’t get enough of this book and I devoured it.

This book was simply full of storyline, from the beginning right up until the end. There was never a dull moment and it literally had me on the edge of my seat.

So much going on with two stories really colliding with each other and at the centre of it all are two characters that I absolutely loved. If this were a movie or tv show I would be hooked watching each episode and dying for the next one.

Travis and Saylor have their fair share of drama and OMG it had me biting my nails wondering how it would all play out. My heart raced watching these two just trying to do what’s best while the odds are stacked against them.

I got angry for them at the roadblocks in their way and they were definitely outside forces that had me cursing up a storm. I mean COME ON !!! Could these two catch a break !!!

This book is an absolute five star for me and wow I definitely will be reading more books by Heidi McLaughlin. As far as romances go she definitely hit it out of the park with this one. Grand slam five star home run!!!

GRAND SLAM EXCERPT

Whenever I wake up with a hangover, I often ask myself why I drank so much and promise that I’ll never do it again. That promise is something I’ve been breaking for the past few days, and up until now, I didn’t care.

I had hoped the booze would muddy my memory of last night, but it hasn’t. Every word she said, every expression she had, every punch to my chest to get me out of her apartment is crystal clear. I fucked up, and I don’t even know how. All I know is that the sobs I heard on the other side of Saylor’s door last night were enough to sober my stupid ass up.

For hours, I sat against her door, until a resident suggested I leave or they were going to call the police. If I hadn’t been arrested ear- lier, I probably would have encouraged them to dial Boston’s Finest. Another man might understand my plight. The woman that I want to be with kicked me out of her house, and while I probably deserved it, I didn’t want to leave until she stopped crying. I didn’t want to be the one to walk away in her time of need.

But as egos go—and believe me, mine is huge—I couldn’t let it get in the way any longer, so I walked my drunk ass back home with my tail between my legs, only to stay up all night while the booze wore off, knowing that I had to live with whatever I’d done to Saylor.

She’s the last person in the world who I want to hurt, and she’s the one person who can save me. Not only from a life behind bars, but from myself. When I’m with her, I’m a different person. The cocky son of a bitch whom everyone is used to doesn’t exist when she’s near me, and frankly, that is the man I like, or at least I used to. It’s easier being a fucking douche. It’s second nature to me and comes with the territory of being named one of the city’s most eligible bachelors.

Except when I’m with Saylor, I can be the man who hides in the shadow of that Travis Kidd. I can be the kind of man who doesn’t have to have a one-liner available or wink in order to get a phone number. When I’m with her, life outside of baseball starts to have a meaning, a fucking purpose.

Conflicted that is one word I can use to describe this book. Don’t mistake the fact that I absolutely loved this book it is a book that had me going through a ton of emotions.

From being excited and giddy to wanting to throw up because I was distressed? Even know I am questioning how I feel because I just don’t know.

Let’s start with the beginning of this book. I didn’t read the blurb and so had no indication of what it was about I suppose the title could have told me that this book would entertain a taboo subject but I still went into with no preconceived notions.

Ok so I start this book and it’s great and seems like it’s gonna be cute and ya know one of those sweet romances.

I’m reading away and thinking oh hell yeah. This book is hot, instant connection yes yes one of those relationships that you read about and think to yourself I wish I had that instant chemistry hot as fuck encounters when I first meet someone.

Then BAM !!!! Oh my what in the ever loving fuck Noooooooo !!!!!! Oh SHIT !!!! Holy fucking shit !!!

You usually have a stance on things and it’s hard to sway that stance yes this is vague I know but there is a certain topic in this book that I won’t reveal because it is spoilerish. Either way my stance on that topic is pretty firm I am against it. It actually makes me nauseous thinking about it.

At this point I’m caught up in the story of Jack and Annie and I am in so deep with story.

This book had me on edge and my palms have been sweating the entire time reading I think I’ve ruined the pages of the paperback itself.

Multiple times throughout this story my heart dropped. I audibly gasped out loud because these two are in such a fucked up web which had me so conflicted.

It’s not pretty, it’s not a bed of roses and it’s certainly not a fairytale romance but it definitely is bringing out all the emotions which is what a great book does.

I’ve been giddy, I’ve been conflicted, I’ve been angry, sad, fuck I’ve even been judgemental while reading this book.

Fuck me I don’t know what I feel. I’m a basket case of emotions right now. And while my stance on the subject matter in this is still the same I will say that I understood the story as it unfolded and why it did.

I have huge respect for authors that write books that will no doubt be received with mixed reviews which I’m sure this book will. I will say that while this book will have some people angry and some will fall in love with it there is no question that it is well written and does exactly what a book should do which is make you think, bring out your emotions and have you lost in the story.

The Forbidden is an explosive story of when the heart wants what it shouldn’t.

Excerpt

“Thank you for your help,” I say quietly, studying him, definitely detecting that he’s deep in thought. Don’t ask, don’t ask, don’t ask. I need to get back into my apartment without engaging with him, which could prove tricky when he’s blocking the doorway and looking like he has no intention of shifting to let me in.
“Annie,” he breathes. “I’m struggling so badly.”
“I’m not doing this.” I swallow, pushing my way past him. He grabs me by the top of my arm and holds me in place. “Let me go, Jack.”
“I’ve already told you I can’t do that. Annie, I’m drowning here. I’m going out of my mind, and the more time I spend with you the fucking worse it’s getting. Listening to you, talking to you, sharing a passion with you that goes way beyond the amazing time we had in bed together.”
“You have to forget!” I yell, knowing anger is the only way forward. Be angry with him. Let it dominate me and rule me, because the alternative scares me to fucking death.
He pushes me into the hall and slams the door behind us, forcing me to back up. “No,” he says, straight and even. “No,” he repeats, moving one more step forward, except this time I don’t retreat. Because I can’t. Because he has me locked in place with those grey eyes, and now they’re back to their full glory. Sparkling, even if it’s with anger. He reaches for his shirt and starts unbuttoning it before shrugging it off and throwing it to the floor, revealing the chest that’s haunting me.
I quickly look down at the pile of material, my mind reeling. His chest. His perfect damn chest. “What are you doing?”
“I have no fucking idea.” He reaches for me and slides a hand around my neck, pulling me to him. Our chests meet, and my determination to repel him vanishes under our connection. Wrongs turn into rights. Conflict turns into craving.
“I can’t get you out of my head, Annie.” His forehead meets mine, his palm massaging away the tightness in my neck muscles, softening me up until I relax in his hold. “I want you all over again, and I can’t even find the will to worry about how much more that’ll make me want you.” He breathes down on me. “I’ve played that night on repeat. I’ve dreamed of holding you in my arms again. I’ve craved the sound of your voice, the feel of your touch, the softness of your lips on mine. I know I shouldn’t want you. But I do. Nothing has ever made me feel this insane with need. Nothing has taken up so much space in my head. I can’t fucking help it, Annie.” His grey gaze sinks into me, my heart steadying to an even thrum. His head starts to shake mildly, his splayed hand moving up to the back of my head and fisting my hair. “I don’t want to help it,” he growls. “I want you. I don’t care how wrong it is.” His clenched fist tightens, gripping my hair harshly. “I know I’ve been on your mind since I fucked you every which way in that hotel room. Stop denying it. Don’t insult me and tell me you don’t crave that amazing feeling all over again. I can see it in your eyes every damn time I look into them. You. Want. Me.”
It’s me who moves in first. All me. I lunge forward and smash my lips to his, the magnetic force winning. His words winning. Jack winning. My heart winning. I coax his mouth open with hard, hungry kisses. I’ve lost my mind to a craving too powerful to fight off. And, like Jack, I don’t care how wrong it is.
Lost.
Yet as he walks me backward until my back slams into the wall, I feel found again.
I cry out, and Jack moans. We’re clumsy and desperate. He’s pushing me up the wall with the force of his kiss, then he’s rolling away, taking me with him until it’s his back slamming into the wall. It’s the elevator all over again. The atmosphere is sizzling. I’m on fire. He scoops me up, pinning me to him, and carries me into my bedroom. I focus on him. Only him and the return of feelings that I’ve fantasized about since that unforgettable night. All the guilt is abandoning me, and I let it, unprepared to let anything stop me from taking the forbidden.

From the first day I met Racer McKay, I knew our interaction was going to be incredibly brief. First impressions really do matter and unfortunately, I didn’t make a very good one.

At the time, I didn’t think much of it. I was never going to see this man again, right?

Wrong! When I’m met with the opportunity of a lifetime, there is only one man in the state of New York who can assist me. And can you guess who it is?

But what I don’t realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he’s desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

So, we reluctantly join forces.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We’re hot, we’re cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don’t want him. We’re on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we’re finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

 Review:

Meghan Quinn brings up her brand of hilariously funny with a side of sweet that I have come to love from her.

Dare I say that Twisted Twosome is my new fav book from her. I absolutely loved it.

Racer and Georgiana these two at first seemed like complete opposites. They butt heads continually, even though they really actually need each other. It’s that butting of the heads and the insults and remarks that are spewed that had me in giggling fits through this book.

Racer was at time crass and at certain points I literally was waiting for Georgie to throw something at him and I’m talking maybe pick up one of his tools a hammer or something and straight up chuck it him. He got under her skin like no one else could as the story goes on though he literally made my heart melt with how he was towards Georgie.

Georgie well I loved the fact that she wasn’t one of those snobby, rich entitled biatches just because she comes from wealth. I loved that she wanted to do her own thing and show that she didn’t want to become that stepford trophy wife she wanted more for herself.

I loved both of these two characters, they each had their own shit to deal with for different reasons and what I found was that they happen to appear in each other’s lives at the perfect time.

And OMFG the side cast of characters I absolutely loved them. They were funny as well and had me laughing just as much as Georgie and Racer did. I think Waverly may be my favorite, I would love for her to have her own book.

This was just another great read from Meghan as I said its now my new fav.

 Review

Meghan has done it again. This story brings you everything. You go in thinking light romantic comedy. But you come out thinking and loving.. I came out crying. But that’s me.

The book is classic Meghan with it’s comedy mixed with sexy, and deep thought. Meghan is the queen of light hearted banter and comedy but as always there is the bottom line of deep thought that Meghan gives you without you even seeing it coming.

I love how easy the characters fit together. The banter between friends, the loyalty, and of course the attraction. It is there between all the characters, they are in sync completely. From those who love each other to those who can’t stand each other, they all work so perfectly together to bring this story to life.

My favourite part of this book was how you could feel the characters. When they were sad, angry, frustrated and when they felt loved.. You felt it for them. You were right there with them while they went through their personal struggles, there with them while the enjoyed the little things in life and right beside them as they showed their loyalty to eachother.

You wanted to wrap your arms around them and hold them, or strangle them, line up the prank that makes them laugh/cry or just jump in bed with them. Any option is good with me really, especially when it comes to Racer.. But I’m pretty sure that his Princess would stab me with her heels if I came anywhere close to those sexy abs.

The writing was amazing as always. The flow was seamless. It was a great evening read for me.. By that I mean I started it and read until I was finished then I was too hyped up to sleep.. A read that left you wanting more of these lovable characters but feeling complete in their story at the same time.

Then there was Meghan’s brilliance, she was able to teach you while you read and you probably didn’t even notice.. Or that was just me. But I know more words coming out of this book that I plan to throw into conversation just to say I know them.

As usual Meghan has left me without words to explain my enjoyment of this book. I truly did love Racer and his Princess. His friend, her friends and their family members, the one sou never got to meet and some of the ones you did. But there were also the family members I just didn’t want to forgive even in the end.

Seriously I’d say more but I can’t. I just want you to read this book. It’s an awesome standalone that fits in you life if you are looking for sexy ppl, loyalty, comedy and just fun. I would recommend it any day of the week.. Especially Monday, I think it could really bring your Monday around for you

Excerpt:

“Thanks for lunch, I haven’t had a fine peanut butter and jelly sandwich in quite some time.” Racer takes a giant bite from one of three sandwiches I made him. The man can eat; I just want to know where he puts it all. “What is this, crunchy peanut butter?” He looks over the sandwich, studying it intently.
“Yes, it’s crunchy with mixed berry jam.”
He nods and takes another bite. He talks with his mouth full, which for some weird reason makes him oddly adorable. “Nice touch, George. The peanuts add a nice texture.”
“Are you going all food critic on my PB and J skills right now?”
Lifting his shirt, he dabs away some of the sweat that’s collecting on his forehead, beneath his backward hat. His abs flex with the movement, drawing my attention. Each divot calling out to me to touch, to examine . . . to lick.
“I think every human should be judged on their PB and J skills.”
I pull my eyes away from his stomach just in time not to get caught staring. “Why do you think that?”
“Because,” he takes another bite, “I think building a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is in everyone’s repertoire, but only the truly skilled know how to make a proper one. And I want to be friends with the truly skilled.”
“Is that so?” I take a drink of my green tea and study him for a second, watching the way the muscles in his jaw move with each bite and swallow. It’s sexy.
His neck is sexy? Is that possible?
“So where do I land on your scale of sandwich artists?”
He smiles from my term, and I realize how much I adore his boyish charm. Pulling his eyes away from me, he examines one of the sandwiches I made him and starts assessing it. “Good ratio of peanut butter to jelly. Nice choice in bread. The crunch you added has been a pleasant surprise, and the mixed berry jam is fucking delightful.” I giggle from his girly term. “But . . .”
I perk up; there’s a but? “But what?”
He quirks his mouth to the side, almost to say, “Sorry, but you’re not quite perfect.” “The bread, it should have been toasted. Toasting it would have taken you to boss level when it comes to the PB and J.”
“Toasting it?”
He nods and takes another bite. “When you don’t toast a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the peanut butter and bread form a paste on the roof of your mouth. Even though it tastes good, it can get quite irritating.”
“But I didn’t have a toaster.”
“Rookie mistake.”
“Well, If I knew I was going to be critiqued, I would have sprung for bacon.”
He pauses mid bite and stares at me over his sandwich. “You’re a beast for bringing up the option.”
I polish off the rest of my sandwich and wipe my fingers. “Well, maybe next time you’ll communicate expectations better. I’m not a mind reader, Racer. Frankly, the fact I didn’t make boss level is on you, not me.”
I stand and gather my trash as he stares me down. “Don’t you turn this on me. You didn’t have a toaster. The toaster is what’s key. This is on you, Georgie. This is on you!” he calls out as I make my way to the back, laughing to myself the entire time.
About the Author:
Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Brick

REVIEW – BRICK by CHARLIE LEE

#BookSmackedReview #FiveStars #VeronicasReview
RBB.jpg

five-stars

I went in to this book thinking hard, biker, dark read. I came out of this book forgetting that’s what it was. Don’t get me wrong it was twisted, they were bikers and it was full of sex and foul language, but it was also full of love and loyalty and a crap load of emotions.
I adored Brick. Everything about him, from his sex appeal to his loyalty, from his massive bulge to his soft heart. He really is the kind of man everyone woman deserves. You wouldn’t even need to get past his lifestyle because you fall in love with it because it is who he is and he’s just amazing. Well at least I think so.
As always the supporting characters are amazing. Especially Katch, he will always be, not sure I will ever get sick of that man. But Brick is it for me, but I doubt I could take Mitts Bear so I guess he will only be mine in my head.
The story line was amazing, the little aspects you don’t see coming to the main events. Everything flowed well. Timeline was on point, no major gap no skipping steps. The love story was everything it needed to be for these characters. Not all characters could have pulled it of, it was quick, dirty and intense. But you felt it and you felt for them. You wanted them to get a HEA, they deserved one after all the shit they went through. It’s awesome how tragedy could bring them together and rip them apart. Definitely a book I need in paperback on my shelf so I can stare at its sexy cover and read it over again.
5 stars for me based on Brick’s character and the emotions the book brings out.

My Sin. Her Redemption.

I’m the man your momma warns you about. The one you never want to meet in a dark alley.
I fight and protect me, mine, and my own. Take a bullet for anyone I love. No damn job is too gruesome for me. And I’m the most loyal motherf*cker you’ll ever encounter.

I live on the wrong side of the law, and I’m damn proud of it. It’s rooted deep in my soul, stems from the scars of my past.

A pool of blood, a lifeless woman, and a missing child lead me into chaos, smack dab in the middle of it.

Why?

To protect what’s mine. Life has never had perfect timing. My sins and her redemptions are about to collide, leaving me changed forever.

Good Girl Gone Badd

New release and review !!!!

I am a huge fan of Jasinda Wilder and her Badd Brother’s series.

#BookSmackedReviews #BaddBrothers #MelsReview #BookReview #FavRead

RBB.jpg
So let’s start by saying when I received this book I legit squealed !!! I’m talking woke up checked my email and saw it and commenced screaming.

I want every Badd Brother even the ones that have yet to be written because what I’ve read so far I’ve loved.

Baxter is the fighter, the hot athlete and I may even just say here the one with the least amount of filter on him which is saying a lot because well the Badd Brothers they all lack filters.

Eve she couldn’t be more opposite from Baxter. She’s been groomed to be the ever demure lady.

Bax is just the man to bring out her wild side and show her everything she’s been missing. And holy fuck does he ever.

There are some scenes in this book that I literally thought to myself Gawd dayummm!!! I felt myself looking around blushing wondering if anyone was looking over my shoulder reading what I was reading and I was completely alone while reading this book.

Eve she may come across as this stuffy high maintenance socialite born with a spoon in her mouth but let me tell you once she meets Bax she becomes this vixen.

It’s been awhile since I read the last book and so while reading this one I remembered how much I l or these characters. They all appear again in this book and bring some laughs along with them.

Another great read in this series and I’m salivating for the rest of them.

This book is steamy with some Baddass sex scenes that will have you flushing all the way down to your toes.

Props to Jasinda Wilder for throwing in the fact that Bax used to play for the Calgary Stampeders which is where I happen to live. She gets extra bonus points for that. 😂

Excerpt:

Dante slammed his hand into the tree, his jaw popped as he gritted his teeth together and then calm washed over him as he whispered near my ear, “Want me to kill him?”

A few people walked by and stared at us, it looked like he was kissing my neck, like we were normal college students sharing a moment.

Nope. Wrong story, kiddos.

He just offered to kill someone for offending me, run along, nothing to see here.

“After,” I said. “Kill him after he stops being useful to you, to the bosses.” I couldn’t believe what was coming out of my mouth, what I was agreeing to. “Yes.”

Dante pulled back, his face broke out into a smile. “How messed up is it that I’m actually looking forward to that moment?”

I gulped. “It’s in your blood.”

“I wish it wasn’t,” he said gruffly. “I wish I didn’t crave it — dream about it — almost as much as I wish I didn’t feel guilt every day because of it.”

I sighed and put my hands on his chest, then ran them up around his neck, he didn’t move, or flinch, so maybe we were having a moment as our mouths almost touched. “The only shame in life, is not being who you were truly born to be. If that means you kill the bad guys — kill the bad, guys Dante. Just don’t lose your soul in the process.”

“And if it’s already gone?” He croaked his eyes darkening as he slowly leaned in until his forehead touched mine.

Days ago I would have been terrified that his body was this close.

Days ago, I would have shoved him away and run.

Days ago, I would have shuddered that his bloodstained hands were running up and down my skin.

But today.

Today was different.

Today I closed my eyes and drank in the wicked scent of Dante Nicolasi, the cologne mixed with soap. I inhaled.

And opened my eyes again.

Yesterday I was angry. I was afraid.

Today. Against the tree.

Pinned by Dante’s arms.

I was safe.

“I’ll help you find it,” I whispered.

“Just don’t damn yourself in the process, El.” He cupped my face with his right hand, his eyes fell to my mouth, his half-lidded seductive look could stop a girl dead in her tracks.

The wives always talked about how attractive his father was, even at an older age.

Almost like he’d aged backward.

Dante was no different.

If it was possible for a human to get more attractive by the day — he’d be the one to prove you right.

“Are you going to kiss me again?” I asked hopefully.

“No.” He pulled away.

My heart sank into my stomach.

“Because I don’t want to start something I have no intention of stopping.”

My head jerked, our eyes locked, and I saw it. The honesty.

“Told you I’d never lie to you, El.” His voice had a warning edge to it, like I shouldn’t push him, push whatever invisible boundaries he’d mentally set up between us. His eyes never left mine.

And I knew, this was what he looked like when he was telling the truth.

His eyes pierced through my defenses in an unapologetic search for my heart, my soul.

And I let them.

“We should get to class.” I finally found my voice and started walking, he fell into step beside me.

And I spent the rest of the day thinking about the non-kiss.

And the promise that came with it.

Something So Perfect

Matthew

Drafted first round pick when I was seventeen, playing first line at eighteen, branded NHL’s bad boy at nineteen. At twenty-three I was cut from the team and living back home with my parents. A knock on the door brought an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. All I had to do was prove I learned from my mistakes, so no way would I fall for a chick with a pouty mouth even if I wanted to spend all day devouring it.

Karrie

When my father gave me a job, I had no idea it would be to babysit some washed up NHL player. He wanted me to be his chaperone, his overpaid babysitter. I thought it was a joke. Then I met him, Matthew Grant. I wasn’t prepared for this particular bad boy. He’s not only hot but he’s arrogant and kinda sweet in a ‘you make me crazy’ kind of way.
Basically now that he’s finished screwing up his life, he’s decided to turn mine upside down.

She’s the first thing I’ve ever wanted more than hockey.

He’s the guy I know I should stay away from.

But what if this thing that started out so wrong turns into something so perfect?

Natasha Madison has quickly became one of my new favorite authors! I have read all of her books in a week. Everytime I think she could give me a better book she freaking out does herself! So I thought Cooper was amazing and an alpha badass well let me introduce you to his stepson Matthew freaking Grant!! Mr. Sexy with a Stick is OMG I just don’t really have words for him that will do him justice right now. Karrie the owner’s daughter is tasked with helping to reform the image of this bad boy has her hands full but you best believe she’s not gonna be a pushover! She takes as good as she gets and trust me she’s getting it pretty dam good. The chemistry between Matthew and Karrie is off the charts smoking hot!  The witty banter between the two of them will leave you laughing and wondering what will come out of their mouths next!

This is another Perfect story by Natasha Madison! I can’t wait for the next book!

Ohhhhhh dear gawd I want Matthew sooo bad. I wasn’t sure that we could get better because I love Cooper but holy faaaaccckkkk, Matthew Grant owns me.

This series is just outstanding and this book is amazing another top read for me. Matthew Grant dayummmmm he is like a bull in a China shop. Commanding, ridiculous in his requests and I seriously had a full on vaginal meltdown. Ovaries exploding and ready to go to first base second base third base and then make up some bases because Matthew Grant !!!!!!!!!!!!

He can come at me fast, hard. I’ll handle his stick and then let him score a hat trick. I will go to sin bin with him any day of the week.

Good gawd this man is just gah. I’m telling you. He’s ridiculously protective and I snorted multiple times at his over bearing ways.

I can’t continue to say how much I loved this book.

Me

“Okay,” Robert starts, “we have your contract here. It’s a one-year contract for two point one million, as per your agent.” He smiles at me because I don’t have an agent. I have Cooper. “We also have the stipulation clause. I know last time you weren’t happy with some of them, but it’s the only way we can both win.” He opens the folder in front of him. “You will be living in a brownstone in Brooklyn.” The page flips over while he continues to read. “Your chaperone will live with you.” He looks up, waiting to see if I’ll say something, and I almost say fuck off. “It’s a three-story brownstone. You each have your own floor to do as you please.”

I nod at him. It isn’t as bad as I thought and maybe me and my roommate will be each other’s wing man. “Your chaperone will be at your side each time you go out. Especially, game day and traveling. Of course you will each have your own room when traveling, but it will be connecting.”
“I hope this guy is up for Netflix and working out.” I smile at them, my hand itchy to sign the papers before I call it all off.
Doug gets up, going to the phone on the table, pressing a couple of buttons. “Can you come to the conference room, please?” He hangs up right after.

“If you mess up even once, your contract is null and void,” Doug says, sitting down just as the door opens and I turn my head to stare at the person who just walked in.

“You?” I stand up, looking back at the other people at the table. The chick from the gym walks in, this time wearing black tight pants and a white button-down shirt, rolled up at the wrists. “Is this a joke?”

“I can assure you I had the same reaction when I was asked,” she says sternly. “I don’t want this any more than you do, but it is what it is.”

“She tried to pick me up yesterday.” I put my hands on my hips, telling the table.

“Are you insane?” she huffs out, her voice rising. “You and your anatomy landed on me.” She looks at Doug. “Right in my back.”

I roll my eyes at her.

“Karrie,” Doug says, looking at her.

“What?” She shrugs at him. “He couldn’t even contain himself, and he thinks I tried to pick him up.” She looks at me. “You wish.”

I pfft out. “Please, one word and you would have come home with me.” I look at the men in front of me. “You guys can’t be serious.” I then look back at Karrie. “Besides, how old is she? Twelve?”

“Pervert. I would have pulled the fire alarm and kicked you in the nuts.” She crosses her arms over her chest, making her tits strain against the buttons. “Either way you would have ended up in the same place. Alone. With bruised nuts.”

Robert slaps the table. “That’s enough, you two.” He looks at both of us. “Now, you two have a lot of catching up to do. I will forward you both the travel schedule.” He stands up, grabbing the papers, and slapping me on the shoulder. “Good to have you.”

Coach Dan gets up also, smirking at me while I stand here speechless that they allow a girl to chaperone me. Not just any girl, the hottest fucking girl I’ve ever set eyes on. I had to take care of myself three times since I stumbled on her.

“You two try not to kill each other.” Dan looks at Karrie. “Be good, sweetheart.” And he kisses her cheek.

“Really?” I throw my hands in the air. “Does no one think this is a ridiculous idea?” I look around the room and the only one left is Doug, who gets up.

“I think it’s the best thing to ever happen to you.” He walks over to squeeze my shoulder. “But if you make my little girl cry”—he leans in, whispering—“they won’t find your body.”

My mouth opens and closes, and then opens again, not a sound coming out.

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
